MEET THE MAN WHO MADE A PREGNANT KIM KARDASHIAN STATUE

His name is Daniel Edwards and he is a contemporary sculptor, and he is a pro at inciting controversy. His celebrity-inspired artwork include a 2006 life-sized unclad of Britney Spears giving birth to son Sean Preston, a statue of Angelina Jolie chest-feeding, and “hands-on” work called “Paris Hilton Autopsy.”

Edwards explained that his work was in response to media criticism over Kardashian’s weight gain during her pregnancy with her first child.

“People tend to look at the parts, like the creases in her armpits, or how she wore a dress that makes her look like a killer whale,” Edwards told Los Angeles Magazine. “I’m stripping it of the details people get stuck on, so they can see the beauty.”

Other works in Edwards’ exhibit include a bronze of Kardashian and Kanye West’s baby in utero, and another pre-natal portrait of Kate Middleton and Prince William’s child. “We live in a media-absorbed culture where anyone can access and share a celebrity’s most intimate moments,” publicist Cory Allen said in a statement. “Daniel visually captures ‘that’ intimacy.

On Wednesday, Edwards unveiled his latest piece: a unclad sculpture of a pregnant Kim Kardashian. The life-sized figure, entitled “L.A. Fertility,” portrays the 32-year-old reality star in a walking pose without arms. Visitors to the statue, on view at the LAB ART Gallery in L.A., are encouraged to rub Kardashian’s enormous belly for luck.

Teenager Sent Home From School For Having Big Breasts

This is really a ridiculous story. A TEENAGER claims she was turned away from her high school prom because her "oranges" are too big.

Brittany Minder had spent months looking forward to the end-of-term dance at Central Kitsap High School in Washington State.

The 18-year-old even travelled to Canada to find her dream dress for the posh do.

But when she arrived at the prom, staff refused to let her in, claiming Brittany's purple frock showed off too much cleavage.

School regulations ban outfits that expose "cleavage, midriff and lower back". But Brittany claims the rule's unfair on her - because she struggles to hide her big chest.

She said: "In my opinion, I feel that it is because I'm bigger chested and there is more cleavage that you can see, and there's nothing I could really do about that."

Justin Bieber's Bodyguards Hit With Battery Accusation

Two people from Justin Bieber's security team are being investigated for alleged battery. According to TMZ, the alleged battery took place at The Hit Factory's parking lot in Miami, where the "Beauty and a Beat" hit maker was playing skateboard.

The victim of the alleged battery, a photographer, saw him and began taking pictures. Two members of Bieber's security team later approached him. They reportedly removed his camera's memory card. The unidentified photographer also said that one of the bodyguards choked him. According to the site, the battery report is handed to State Attorney's office to be reviewed.

WHY KUNLE AFOLAYAN WAS DROPPED AS A GLO AMBASSADOR

Nigerian director, actor and producer was dropped as a Glo ambassador because of Saka the "Port Master". We all know that Saka was one of the known faces of most of Etisalat brands before porting to MTN. But still yet Kunle Afolayan featured him in his movie "Phone Swap" which was not to be so as the movie was sponsored by Globacom.

Despite the fact that Kunle Afolayan was a good boy to his sponsors and had a smooth relationship with the telecommunications company he was still yanked off from being an ambassador.

Apparently Afolayan had been working on the movie, "Phone Swap" before he became a Glo ambassador.

This reason for yanking him off from my own opinion doesn't really make sense.

R.I.P : Bruno Mars Mother Dies Unexpectedly

 Bernadette Hernandez -- mother of Bruno Mars -- died unexpectedly Saturday at the age off 55.

Hernandez suffered a brain aneurysm. She passed away at the Queens Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Hernandez was a hula dancer and singer who immigrated from the Philippines and nurtured Mars' musical talents from a very young age.

Mars was set to kick off a tour in the U.S. later this month. No word on whether the death will affect the concert schedule.

New drug offers hope for cervical cancer patients

A new cervical cancer drug offers the first good hope of extending life for women with advanced stages of the disease, a study published in the United States today has found.

Existing chemotherapy regimes are largely ineffective against advanced stages of cervical cancer, which kills 250,000 women worldwide every year.

That’s why early screening is so critical — regular Pap smears have managed to reduce deaths in wealthy countries by 80 percent.

The study found that women who were given the drug bevacizumab (Avastin) along with their chemotherapy prolonged survival to an average of 17 months, compared with 13.3 months for those who only received chemotherapy.

Tumor shrinkage rates were 48 percent for patients who received the drug, compared with 36 percent for those who did not.

The results also indicated that the survival benefit did not come at the cost of diminished quality of life.

The phase III clinical trial separated the 452 patients into four treatment arms but found no significant differences in survival between those receiving cisplatin or topotecan (Hycamtin) chemotherapy treatments.
Genentech’s drug bevacizumab is currently approved by US regulators for use in several advanced cancers but has not yet been approved for gynecological cancer. It works to block blood vessel formation in the tumor.

Some 4,000 women die of cervical cancer every year in the United States.

Widows Will No Longer Drink Bath-Water Of Their Dead Husbands In A/Ibom

The custom allowing the seizure of deceased husbands properties and subjecting their widows to inhuman practices such as shaving of the head and making them drink the water used to bath their husbands, among others, have now become illegal in Akwa Ibom State.

The state government, in a bill passed by the House of Assembly and signed by the governor, Chief Godswill Akpabio, outlawed the custom which maltreat widows after the deaths of their husbands, declaring it as unlawful and inhuman.

In his Democracy Day speech, the governor declared that it had become unlawful for widows to be maltreated in Akwa Ibom, saying defaulters of the law risk fines and three years imprisonment.

While reacting on the new law, the First Lady of the state, Chief (Mrs) Unoma Ekaette Akpabio, commended the House of Assembly and the governor for the pro-women law, describing the passage of the law as a breakthrough for the womenfolk in the state.

According to her, “I appreciate the state House of Assembly and the state governor for standing with the womenfolk through this law. Akwa Ibom State has, in the last five years, shown itself as pro-masses and pro-women.”

Woman Sues After Allegedly Contracting Herpes From Rihanna-Endorsed Lipstick

A Rihanna fan files a lawsuit against MAC Cosmetics, the company producing RiRi Woo lipstick. Starkeema Greenidge claims she got herpes after sampling the lipstick at a MAC popup store when attending the singer's concert at the Barclays Center in New York City on May 7.

The 28-year-old waitress said an employee applied the lipstick to her upper lip, and she was asked to "press her lips together and spread the lipstick around." Two days later, she developed a cold sore on her lip as a result of contracting a version of herpes simplex virus (HSV-1).

In the lawsuit filed at the Manhattan Supreme Court, the plaintiff is seeking unspecified damages claiming she suffered from "mental anguish and emotional distress" after contracting the incurable disease.

In response, MAC issues a statement to the Daily Beast, "Consumer safety is a top priority at MAC Cosmetics, and we take these matters very seriously. We are closely reviewing these claims."

What Is The Perfect Breást Size?

While there’s no scientific evidence showing that size/shape are correlated with reproductive success, researchers have uncovered some interesting information about how people perceive breasts.

Turns out that females and males rate medium-sized breasts most favorably. Study participants went so far as to make psychological assessments about women, from their chest size. They rated smaller women as competent, ambitious, intelligent, modest and moral. What about large-breasted women? The opposite.
What’s also interesting is that chest size complements waist-to-hip (WHR) ratio. It’s the complete package that influences whether people judge a woman as attractive, feminine and healthy.

Large breasts enhanced the attractiveness of slender and heavy figures, as long as they had a low WHR ratio. But if a woman had a high WHR, large breasts appeared to decrease attractiveness ratings.
The one scenario in which large breasts raised the attractiveness of a high WHR figure was when she was “heavy.” This may have occurred because large breasts can make it appear as if a woman has a lower WHR than she actually does. The cause: a perceived shift in her proportions, created by a large bustline.

Comic actor, Baba Suwe loses N25 Million award at the court of appeal

The Court of Appeal in Lagos, has overturned the ruling of a high court and quashed the N25million damages awarded to yoruba Nollywood actor, Babatunde Omidina, popularly known as Baba Suwe.
In the ruling, the Court of Appeal re-affirmed the right of the NDLEA to investigate, arrest, detain and prosecute drug suspects as long as the agency acts within the law.

The court said the NDLEA had not violated Mr. Omidina’s rights because it sought and got court orders from the federal high court to keep him in custody after the arrested him on the suspicion that he had ingested hard drugs.
The Court of Appeal came down heavily on the Lagos High court judge that awarded the damages against the NDLEA, describing the decision as oppressive and burdensome to an agency of government carrying out its statutory duties.
Baba Suwe’s attorneys, led by civil rights activist, Bamidele Aturu, have vowed to take the matter before the Supreme Court.

Pipeline Explosion Rocks Lagos

Activities of suspected vandals on Saturday led to a pipeline explosion at Ijeododo in Ojo Local Government Area of Lagos State.
It was learnt that the explosion occurred after Saturday’s downpour witnessed across the state.

Officials of the Pipelines Products Marketing Company, PPMC, who visited the site about two hours after the explosion, were said to have left due to lack of access road to the explosion point.
The explosion which sparked a huge fire that was still raging till late in the night on Saturday sources said authorities are now trying their best to douse. [Vanguard]

Chinese baby, rescued from toilet, is released to grandparents

The  newborn baby boy who was found alive inside a toilet pipe in Jinhua, China, has been released from hospital and taken home by his maternal grandparents.

The child's mother is still being treated at the hospital. The gist i initially heard about this story was that the mother of the baby who is 22 years old tried flushing the baby in the toilet. Apparently that wasn't what happened as the mother of the baby had stomach aches and she went to the toilet. It was actually close to her due date and the baby just slid out. 

The police said she tried to retrieve the baby with a stick, then decided to flush the toilet to clear away the blood.

But thank goodness the baby boy was saved by rescuers who went to the floor below and sawed away a section of pipe. But the baby was still stuck, so both the section of pipe and the infant were taken to a hospital. Working together, rescuers and doctors began removing the pipe, piece by piece. 

No charges have been filed against the mother.Already the baby is drinking formula. The firefighters and other rescuers involved visited the baby at the hospital  and sent clothes, formula powder and diapers.

Two Arik Air Cabin Crew Arrested At London Heathrow With Cocaine…

Two staff of Nigeria’s largest airline – Arik Air have been arrested at the Heathrow Airport in London for suspected drug trafficking, Nigeria’s anti-drug agency boss, Ahmadu Giade confirmed on Tuesday.

The Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency disclosed they had opened investigations after the Arik Airline workers were allegedly caught with cocaine. NDLEA spokesperson, Mitchell Ofoyeju said the allegations constituted a national embarrassment.

They left the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos, on Tuesday morning and arrived Heathrow about six hours later, the source said.

Banji Ola, Arik Air spokesperson said he did not have details. Ola did not know when the plane left Lagos and did not even know the names of the cabin crew involved.

In December 2011, a 29-year-old Arik Air cabin crew, Ms. Chinwendu Uwakaonyenma Ogbonnaya was arrested in London for drug trafficking.

She was jailed for five years last year. After serving her jail term in London, Ogbonnaya is expected to be deported back to Nigeria.

Prophet T.B Joshua’s Church Banned From Location In Ghana

Reports have it that a strict order has been given to the authorities of the T.B Joshua led Synagogue Church of all Nations, SCOAN by the Greater Accra Regional Police Commander, DCOP Christian Tettey Yehonu to quit hosting revivals at their Spintex auditorium in Accra due to the recently stampede in the church that claimed about four lives and left many seriously injured.

The stampede occurred as people struggled to secure better positions to receive holy water blessed by the Presiding Prophet, T.B Joshua.

DCOP Yehonu noted that the stampede that occurred at the weekend could have been avoided if the church had chosen a bigger venue to hold its events.

The police chief explained that “the place is too small to manage a congregation of that magnitude.”

He however suggested that the Accra Sports Stadium or the independence square were more suitable alternatives to handle a crowd of that magnitude and should be considered for use.

Meanwhile, officials of the Church who said it was the first time people died in any of their services worldwide, noted that they did all in their power to save the situation.
